CENTER ISLAND is a small, private island (about 15 acres) located between Lopez and Decatur Islands, in north Puget Sound, Washington. The majority of the island is divided into 1/2 acre parcels built around a common airstrip, with shared usage of a small marina. There are also a number of parcels that are community owned including waterfront picnic areas, a clubhouse and caretaker's home.
The island feels like a wonderful summer camp....trails winding through the trees....narrow roads for golf carts only.....deer grazing....and charming cabins
Maintenance of the community is done by the year-round caretakers or is completed by licensed contractors. Community dues are $550/yr. All utilities are located underground and the community water system is a combination of well and reverse osmosis systems. Water conservation is encouraged and many home owners use a catchment system for irrigation needs.
The island receives mail on a daily basis and has access to high speed internet. School children travel to the Decatur School (k-8) or Lopez School (9-12). Emergency medical needs are served by the Friday Harbor EMS. The community dock and airstrip is for the use of it's members only. Residents can keep their 24' or less boat at the dock while they are on the island (space providing) but have a 10 day maximum stay when they are "off island". Permission for non-residents to visit the island and use dock or airstrip must be obtained from the caretakers (360-375-6093). For residents, without their own boat, two water taxis provide daily transportation to and from the island.... Island Express Charters and Paraclete Charters.
